The aim of all our interventions is to help families, children and young people to make healthier choices.
Obesity is a complex problem with many drivers, including behaviour, environment, genetics and culture. Therefore our aim is to look at the whole picture and not just weight.
Long-term, sustainable change will only be achieved through the active engagement of families and young people.
The digital weight offer is an 8 week offer as we feel we are more likely to keep families engaged.
The programme is offered as three different pathways:
- Under 5’s
- Primary school children
- Secondary school children.
Each week has a goal, a PowerPoint on that week’s theme, an exercise video demonstrating a simple exercise, links to recipes, BDA fact sheets etc and an activity for the week – guess which drink has the highest amount of sugar etc.
It is a rolling programme that is accessible 52 weeks a year with minimal wait time, which you can be referred or self-refer into.
The programme is accessed through a web link, that is given to families, carers or young people at your first home visit or via a QR code which is provided.
All families with children under 8 get a free session at The Jungle upon completion, those over 8 a free FITBOX family workout session on a Sunday for which children can attend with an adult and for those at secondary school, a weeks free gym membership.
