Every Wednesday evening we run a drop in men's mental health boxing session at Optimal fitness boxing gym at 7-8:30. It's a drop in session so any men over the age of 18 are welcome. We cater for all abilities, so even if you have never been in a boxing gym before that's okay. We want to break down the barriers of stepping foot in a boxing gym and give guys the chance to experience the gym in a postive way with a very supportive group of lads.
We spend the first hour of the session warming up and then each week we will do something different. This could be basic boxing drills, padwork, bagwork, shadow boxing, showing you how to use kettlebells in the correct way, strength and conditioning. For the last 30 mins we warm down and then sit together in the TALKHUB talking space in one corner of the gym and talk about the mental side of boxing, mental health disorders or just check in with each other and reflect on what we've each enjoyed in the session.
We ask for a £2 donation; however if anyone is struggling financially we can help them out.
